Charles W. Thompson has 25 years experience in health care, financial services, and management consulting. He has a unique blend of financial and operating experience, especially in the development of technology and information intellectual property to generate significant shareholder value.
Most recently, Mr. Thompson was a Principal with marketRx, a technology and consulting company focused on the Life Sciences industry. Venture-backed by Sequoia Capital, marketRx grew to 500 professionals, earned the #195 spot on Inc. 500 and Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Hot 100”. In 2007, the firm was acquired by Cognizant Technologies for $135 million.
Prior to marketRx, he was a management consultant with ZS Associates, Towers Perrin and NDCHealth. NDCHealth was a $400 million dollar provider of software, transaction processing and information; clients included over 100 pharmaceutical manufacturers, 90% of the nation's pharmacies, 20% of hospitals, 100,000 physicians, and 1,000 payers. The firm was subsequently acquired by units of McKesson and WoltersKluwer.
Mr. Thompson began his career with Chase Manhattan’s Special Asset Group, where he managed a portfolio of debt/equity securities from reorganizations, recapitalized several distressed clients, and was involved in all aspects of a $4.2 billion merger. With the Wall Street Division, Mr. Thompson originated innovative deals that grew debt portfolio from $4 million to $65 million in under a year.
Mr. Thompson attended Princeton University earning a degree in History. He has an additional degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University with majors in Finance and Marketing, and was selected Top Marketing Student by faculty. Mr. Thompson lives in Atlanta, with his wife and two daughters. His interests include triathlons and woodworking.
