May 1, 2008 – William H. Gerety, a veteran industry executive, has been named president and chief executive officer of Dataline LLC, a systems integrator based in Norfolk, Virginia.
Prior to joining Dataline, Bill served as a Reserve Major General in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Department of the Army. In this position, General Gerety served as the deputy uniformed officer and chief strategist for the Army’s Chief Information Officer (CIO/G-6) responsible for directing the CIO/G-6’s strategic initiatives, strategic integration and measures as well as providing advice regarding the integration of the financial planning and resource allocation with specific attention on developing technologies, management systems and Army enterprise business practices.
Prior to his most recent activation, General Gerety served industry in numerous positions including President and CEO of Spacenet, Inc; Chief Operating Officer and Director, Astrolink International LLC and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, World Access/Facilicom International. Bill has also held key management positions at Interdyn, LLC, Sprint International/Global One, GTE and E-Systems, Inc.
Prior to his business career Bill has served his country on either active or reserve duty in the United States Army since 1980. He is a 1980 graduate of the United States Military Academy and holds a Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Science in Contracts and Acquisition Management and a Masters of Science in Strategic Studies. He maintains a working knowledge of French, Russian and Spanish.
